They were only five minutes late for the cab. Ali held the door for Flick as she got in, and then joined her in the back seat. They held hands and shared some smouldering looks until they reached the restaurant. Ali paid the driver and tipped him generously, as an apology for the wait.

They walked into the restaurant and approached the front of house desk. “Table for two, under Bromwell,” Flick said.

A very professional young man led them to their table that looked out onto the sea.

Alison took her seat and scanned the drinks menu. As the waiter approached, Ali looked at Flick and for the first time took in her appearance. Alison had to pull her eyes away from the open shirt, and order the drinks, she was finding it hard to concentrate. She finally selected a bottle of wine for them, then reached for Flick’s hand over the table.

“You look gorgeous, darling. I’m really looking forward to dancing with you tonight.”

“Likewise. You’ve got a great arse, and I can’t wait to see you shake it.”

They ate their meals and chatted about the girls, Ali’s Mum, and their relationship.

At 9:00 p.m. they left the restaurant and headed for the bar. Ali wrapped her arm around Flick’s waist. She was pleased when Flick put her hand into the back pocket, of her jeans and squeezed her arse. They entered the club, and noticed that it was already packed.

“What do you want to drink?” Ali shouted over the music.

“Corona would hit the spot lovely.”

They ordered their drinks and found two stools at the bar. Ali had brought a fleece with her, and put it over both stools, so nobody would pinch them while they were dancing.

Ali stood up, and whispered in Flick’s ear, “I’m just popping to the Ladies.”

Flick watched the crowded room and was startled when a strong deep voice sounded in her ear. “I haven’t seen you in here before. Can I buy you a drink?”

She turned around to see a heavyset woman, with short spiky hair and a pierced bottom lip.

“No thanks. I’m just waiting for my girlfriend.”

“There is no way, that you have a girlfriend. She wouldn’t have left you, just sitting here alone.”

Flick glanced at Ali approaching and smiled. Ali wrapped her arm around Flick, and kissed her full on the mouth. She smiled at Flick, and then turned to the stranger and extended her hand. “Hi I’m Ali. Thanks for keeping this gorgeous creature company, while I went to the Ladies.”

“I’m Michelle. I think I’ll leave you two ladies, to enjoy the rest of your evening.”

Flick laughed as Michelle walked away. Ali was not going to give anyone a chance, to chat her up.

“Come on, baby, let’s dance.”

Ali led her onto the dance floor. They did their own version of dirty dancing, and Ali was pleased that people were staring at Flick. She was proud that Flick was on her arm and nobody else’s. She pulled Flick closer and stared at her necklace, it was the one Ali had given to her in Brighton.
